The standard run is US-290 west out of Houston, then TX-6 north into College Station, exiting at University Drive. In clear conditions it is about an hour and forty five minutes. On a home game Saturday it is not clear conditions.
What changes on a game day:
Locals route around the worst of it using FM 2818 and Highway 6 rather than fighting Wellborn Road, and leaving from the north side of campus, people are directed toward Villa Maria Road before heading east or west. That last option is the one worth knowing about. If your group is staying overnight, or if the bus does not need to sit in College Station all afternoon, ask for two flat rate transfers instead of a continuous hourly booking. On a route this long, that is frequently the cheaper structure and no reputable operator will object to quoting it both ways.
The argument for a bus on this route is not comfort on the way there. It is the two hours after the game ends.
When a full Kyle Field empties, everyone tries to leave at once, into a road network that was not built for it, in a town considerably smaller than the crowd. In your own car you sit in that, then drive an hour and forty five minutes home afterwards, having been awake since early morning and quite possibly having had a drink at a tailgate.
On a bus you sit in the same traffic, but you are not driving, the air conditioning is on, and everyone can talk about the game. More to the point, nobody in your group has to be the designated driver for a two hour drive home at the end of a very long day. For a lot of Aggie families that is the entire reason they stop driving themselves.
Practical points for game day:
Texas A&M runs prepaid parking garages and lots on game days with free shuttle routes to Kyle Field, and lots generally open in the morning. It works, and if you are one car it is usually the right answer.
For a group it stops making sense quickly. Four cars means four prepaid spaces, four separate arrivals, four groups walking or shuttling in from different lots, and four drivers who all have to stay sober and leave at the same time to keep the group together. In practice groups splinter, someone gets stuck, and the convoy plan falls apart before kickoff.
One vehicle means one arrival, one departure, one conversation about timing. Whether it is cheaper depends on your group size, but it is reliably simpler, and on this route simple has real value.
If you are tailgating, the bus stops being transport and becomes part of the setup. It carries the group, the food, the chairs and the cool boxes in one trip rather than distributed across four boots. It gives you somewhere air conditioned to retreat to, which in September in Texas is not a small thing. And the person who would otherwise have driven can actually take part.
Book the hours honestly. Tailgating starts several hours before kickoff, and a group that books eight hours for a tailgate, a game and the exodus will be paying overtime by the fourth quarter. Ten to twelve is the realistic range for a full tailgate Saturday including the drive both ways.
Check the current campus tailgating rules before the day. Policies, lot assignments and opening times change from season to season, and they are set by the university rather than by us.
For home games, Midnight Yell Practice at Kyle Field the night before is a genuine Aggie tradition and a real reason groups travel up on the Friday rather than the Saturday.
If your group wants both Midnight Yell and the game, you are looking at an overnight rather than a day trip, and the transport should be structured accordingly. Two transfers, up on Friday evening and back on Saturday night, is almost always better value than paying for a vehicle to sit in College Station overnight. Ask us to quote it that way.
Graduation is the booking families most often leave too late, and it is the one where late costs the most.
Texas A&M graduates large numbers of students across multiple ceremonies, and the whole town fills. Hotels book out months ahead, restaurants need reservations, and transport gets tight for the same weekend. A family group coming up from Houston for a ceremony is competing with every other family doing exactly the same thing.
What works:
Eight hours is the usual shape: up in the morning, ceremony, a long lunch or dinner, home in the evening.

These party bus prices cover the rental only, before 15 to 20 percent gratuity. Across a full Mega Lounge an eight hour graduation day is about $28 a head. Football fills this route, but it is not the only reason groups travel up.
The pattern is the same for all of them: the drive dominates the booking, so build the hours around three and a half hours of road rather than around the length of the event.
College Station is a college town, which means two things. Restaurants near campus are used to large groups, and on a home game weekend every one of them is full.

Overnight. We take you up, leave, and return the next day. Two transfers instead of one long booking. This is frequently cheaper on transport, and it is the right structure for anything involving Midnight Yell, an early ceremony, or a group that does not want to drive back late.

Groups of students or friends travelling up for a game or an event. Cost per head matters most here, which means booking a larger vehicle and filling it rather than two small ones.
