White Oak Music Hall sits at 2915 North Main Street, on the corner of North Street and North Main, about a mile and a half north of downtown Houston. It has approximately 320 off street parking spaces across Lots A, B and C.
That is a reasonable number for the indoor rooms. It is not a reasonable number for The Lawn, the venue’s outdoor space, which holds a far larger crowd than 320 cars can serve. The venue is straightforward about the consequence: if you have not bought a parking pass in advance for a Lawn show, expect to park on nearby streets and walk eight to ten minutes to the venue.
That walk is through a residential neighbourhood, at night, after a show. For a group of twenty it also means arriving in several cars parked several streets apart, which is exactly how a group stops being a group.
This is the clearest parking argument of any venue we cover. It is not that parking is expensive here, it is that for the big shows there genuinely is not enough of it.
